DEFORESTATION
Deforestation is the clearing of rainforests. This is mainly due to the logs being used for furniture and wood-chips, or to make way for mines and roads. Although these things are useful, the clearing of rainforests only leads to destruction.
On average, 60 hectares of rainforest are cleared per minute. We need to stop the deforestation of these rainforests, as it leads to the destruction of the land and the habitat of the animals living in them. Mining around these can lead to dangerous run-off chemicals mixing with the surrounding rivers and streams. It can also dramatically change the climate of the surrounding areas. To stop this, I propose that suitable plantations are created so we can still cut down trees and use the wood, but not at an extreme level. This keeps the habitat and surrounding areas healthy and thriving. |
PQE AND SHEEPT methods
When studying geography, we use data that has been collected. This includes research and statistics about the area. One method of classifying data is the PQE method.
This involves:
We also use the SHEEPT method, which involves:
We can explain why the Vikings raided and took control of England using this method.
This involves:
- Patterns
- Quantity
- Exceptions
We also use the SHEEPT method, which involves:
- Social
- Historical
- Environmental
- Economic
- Political
- Technological
We can explain why the Vikings raided and took control of England using this method.
- Social - They heard about the riches of monasteries and how they were unguarded.
- Historical - They moved from Scandinavia to parts of England.
- Environmental - The soil and conditions in Scandinavia were not good for growing crops.
- Economical - The monasteries held riches.
- Political - They wanted more land.
- Technological - They had longboats that could travel long distances quickly.

Geography is the study of the world. There are many was to describe places when study geography. These are:
Waitomo Glow Worm Caves
Place: Waitomo District, New Zealand.
Region: Caves
Climate: Cold, rivers running through caves.
Environment: No plants, glow worms live there.
Population: Waitomo district has 9,630 people (2011)
Interview with Bailey
Place:Antarctic.
Region: Coastal.
Climate: Cold.
Environment: Ice, penguins, other animals.
Population: No permanent residence, scientists researching.
