Feudalism was the layers of society in medieval times. Each class received from a class and gave to a class, and a social system was formed.
The king or monarch was the highest class there was. They lived a life of luxury and had basically everything available to them at will. The King would provide land to nobles and church officials.
Nobles and church officials were the second-highest class, receiving land from the King and providing land to the Knights below them.
Knights provided military service to barons, and were given to the King by barons in exchange for land. Knights lived an average life, going into battle to protect either barons or the King. They granted land to the peasants below them.
Peasants and Serfs were the lowest class. They were given land by Knights and in exchange provided food to them. They had a tough life and were usually were required to work their master's land or tend to his animals.
Feudalism was a medieval hierarchy that formed four layers of society, each helping the other out. It was a productive social system and is used in the modern world today, such as the different ranks of people working in a business. It was a very important part of medieval times.
